About NCAfrica
Nutrition Conversations Africa is an advocacy platform aimed at illuminating Africa’s nutrition challenges, opportunities, transformative ideas, and game-changing solutions through continuous conversations, call to action, advocacy support and consistent engagement. It is an initiative by Wandieville in partnership with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), working together towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 2 of ending all forms of hunger and malnutrition by 2030 to build a food and nutrition secure continent.
The objective of this initiative is to encourage sustained conversations about nutrition in Africa, raise awareness on nutrition landscape in Africa, unpack innovative solutions to help curb malnutrition and support stakeholders in policy and advocacy.
- Platform: Continuous conversations, partnerships, knowledge sharing, information hub for African nutritional challenges.
- Advocacy: Create awareness, impart knowledge to increase consumer demand of safe and nutritious foods.
- Support: Publicity, incentives, creative use of indigenous African nutritious food with R & D support, affordability and accessibility of nutritious foods
- Policy: Stakeholder engagement, policy dialogue, contribute to improved policy decisions, fact-based lobby and awareness lobbying
- Funding: Support nutritional advocacy and communications at community and country level.
What we do
- Content: We bring to your attention all the relevant happenings in the African nutrition sector on our social media platforms, newsletter and blog (which you can contribute to as well! Just shoot us an email). Individuals or organizations working in nutrition in Africa are welcome to send in content, news and updates on their projects, programmes, policy outputs, and impact stories for us to publicize.
- Advocacy: We create awareness on crucial nutrition issues and innovations like school feeding programs, workforce nutrition, biofortification, etc. We are also open to partnering with other individuals or organizations who work in nutrition advocacy.
- Events: We host monthly webinars on key nutrition topics that bring together experts from varying fields who work across the continent. Individuals and organizations who work in the African nutrition sector are invited to partner with us on these events, we are willing to host your webinars and media engagements. Starting in 2023, we plan to host quarterly learning series for students and entrepreneurs in the field of nutrition, where we would acquaint them with useful knowledge and information to propel them further in their careers.
- Media Partnerships: We would partner with journalists, press organizations and media houses to promote nutrition-related stories they’re currently covering as well as train them on how best to report on nutrition.
- Country Nutrition Champions: We work hand in hand with our fantastic volunteers from several African countries who are our eyes and ears on current events in nutrition in the various regions of the continent.
